Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million dollar stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Emergency Department offers an ACEM-accredited Special Skills Placement (SSP) in Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM). This is an opportunity to develop skills and further knowledge in Geriatric Emergency Medicine. The GEM Trainee (AT) is expected to provide high-quality medical care to geriatric patients presenting to the ED, and to also work with and support the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation (GRACE) Team and Aged Care Services in ED Team (ASET). The GEM AT will work under the supervision of the SSP Supervisor, and also under other Emergency Physicians. The GEM AT position is generally a 6-month term, which is a divided fraction of 0.5 FTE GEM and 0.5 FTE ED. The GEM component will be 5x 8hr shifts a fortnight.
