About the opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Finance and Payroll Officer to join our finance team on a full-time basis (38 hours per week) based in Fortitude Valley. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role is responsible for managing accurate fortnightly payroll operations while providing essential, high-level support across broader finance functions under relevant modern awards (including SCHADS, Nursing, and Health Professionals Awards).
About you
You will bring previous experience in a similar finance or payroll role, demonstrating the ability to independently manage:
- Payroll Operations & Compliance: End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing, salary sacrificing, payroll adjustments, back pays, final pays, allowances, and statutory compliance (PAYG, superannuation, QLeave obligations, EOFY, and Income Statement finalisation) in close collaboration with HR.
- Coding, Reconciliation & Reporting: Accurate coding of wages, general ledger reconciliations, investigating variances, reviewing travel kilometre submissions, and producing wage cost analysis and financial reports.
- Finance & Audit Support: Reliable support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, petty cash, month-end balance sheet reconciliations, vouchers, and tax-deductible donation receipts, while assisting with continuous workflow improvements and audits.
What you will need
- Diploma-level qualification in accounting, business, or bookkeeping, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and specialist payroll training.
- Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing, modern awards, and employment legislation.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting and payroll systems (such as SAP Business One and HR3) paired with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to exercise sound, independent judgment with minimal direct supervision.
- A current Queensland Class C Driver’s Licence.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card / Positive Notice), or willingness to obtain.
- Desirable – Previous experience working within the NFP or community services sector.
