Helping young people through tough times is important work.
It’s also deeply rewarding.
At headspace Ballarat, you’ll often be the first person a young person meets when they reach out for support, listening to their story, helping them feel safe enough to talk, and connecting them with the right care.
We’re looking for a Youth Worker who genuinely cares about young people and wants to be part of a team helping them find their way forward.
If supporting young people matters to you and you enjoy working with a team that backs each other, this could be the role for you.
Is this you?
You:
- care deeply about young people and the challenges they face.
- believe in meeting young people where they’re at, without judgement, and helping them feel heard and supported.
- build trust easily and are comfortable having real conversations when things feel overwhelming.
- are comfortable working with complexity and understand that supporting young people takes patience, persistence and consistency.
- hold a tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Welfare, Social Work or a related field
- are experienced supporting young people in community, health or social service settings.
Your new role
You’ll support young people aged 12–25 as they access headspace Ballarat, helping them feel welcome and supported from the moment they connect with the service.
The role focuses on intake and psychosocial assessment, providing brief interventions or short-term support, and connecting young people with the services that best meet their needs.
You’ll work closely with colleagues, families, schools and community services, and contribute to group programs, workshops and outreach activities.
As part of working in a funded service, you’ll also maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
Your new team
The team at headspace Ballarat is close-knit, supportive, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
It’s a team that checks in with each other, talks through complex situations and shares ideas about what might help a young person. People support each other and bring humour and positivity to the day.
At headspace, we focus on supporting our people to thrive in their work - creating an environment where staff feel supported, continue to grow professionally, and bring their skills to supporting young people.
