We're introducing Black Star Pastry After Dark - an intimate evening experience where our Newtown café transforms into a cocktail bar. The lights dim. The music slows. Signature cakes meet beautifully crafted cocktails. Familiar... yet completely reimagined.
Now we're looking for the person who'll bring it to life.
Not someone to simply supervise a shift.
Someone who wants to own an experience!
This is more than a bar job...
As our Bar Supervisor, you'll be the driving force behind our evening operation. You'll lead the service, set the atmosphere and help establish After Dark as one of Sydney's most unique dessert and cocktail destinations.
You'll also play an important role behind the scenes—working closely with our daytime café team to ensure each afternoon transitions seamlessly into the evening experience.
You'll be the face guests remember.
The person who notices every detail.
The one who sets the standard.
In practice, and day to day, the key responsibilities could be best outlined as the following:

Leading every After Dark service with confidence and warmth.

Creating memorable guest experiences from first drink to last bite.

Mixing and serving a curated cocktail menu with consistency and flair.

Coordinating the transition from café service to evening trade.

Coaching and supporting the evening team throughout service.
-
Managing stock, opening and closing procedures and ensuring responsible service of alcohol.

Working closely with our Store Manager, Head of Sales & Marketing Operations and the daytime teams to continuously improve the experience as the concept grows.
We're looking for someone who...

Has previous experience leading a bar or premium hospitality venue

Is a genuine bartender who genuinely loves the craft

Understands that hospitality is as much about atmosphere and experience as it is about the drinks

Communicates clearly and confidently

Can bring calm leadership to a busy service

Enjoys building something new rather than simply maintaining the status quo

Holds a current NSW RSA
-
Demonstrates an attitude of authenticity and positivity, proven to drive team outcomes

Embraces a mindset of continuous improvement and learning.
