We are seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to lead and manage kitchen operations in our busy café. The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, kitchen coordination, quality control, and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
● Plan and develop breakfast, brunch, and light lunch menus.
● Estimate food and labour costs and manage food ordering and inventory levels.
● Coordinate with management, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams regarding food preparation and service requirements.
● Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and quality standards are maintained.
● Organise and prepare ingredients and kitchen equipment for service.
● Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation.
● Portion meals and ensure consistency in presentation and serving standards.
● Season and prepare dishes according to café recipes and quality expectations.
● Prepare customised menu items for bookings, catering, and special requests.
● Oversee kitchen operations and ensure proper use of equipment and food storage procedures.
● Plan workflow and kitchen operations to maintain efficient service.
● Select, measure, and control ingredient usage to minimise waste.
● Operate and regulate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
● Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety, and security procedures.
● Train, supervise, and support junior chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff where required.
Selection Criteria
● Relevant commercial kitchen experience in a similar café or hospitality role.
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent time management and organisational skills.
● Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance requirements.
● Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.
Base salary per annum: $77,000–$82,000 (full-time)
