Job Description
Lead the CAD and drafting design activities in this Senior CAD Drafter role in AECOM’s Energy team. You will be working as part of an established design team, working across a broad range of energy project types, delivering leading design drawings to the highest technical standards.
Based ideally in AECOM’s Brisbane or Sydney office, this role provides the scope to work across a range and variety of energy projects across primary, secondary, transmission line, civil, structural and others. You will also have scope to develop your leadership abilities across project delivery and people leadership while ensuring design standards and drawing deliverables are met.
How you’ll make a difference

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design excellence covering design models and drawings for substation layouts, equipment and associated utilities, set out drawings, single line diagrams, secondary schematics and others.

Working co-operatively with team members whilst liaising with engineers and drafters (both locally, throughout Australia, and international design teams) supporting the integration of design inputs and highest standards of technical design across projects.

Contribute to design documentation, reviewing drawings and ensure outputs meet project specifications and quality standards.

Support, manage and coordinate the delivery of design milestones, ensure deliverables meet scope, verification, standards, timeframe and budget considerations.

Provide technical guidance and support to design team members, including mentoring and training on digital design tools and workflows, across the wider Energy team.

Apply your common data environment (such as with Bently ProjectWise, or Autodesk Forma and others) and CAD abilities using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Qualifications
To be successful in this Senior role, you will be an experienced CAD designer or CAD Team Leader, known for your abilities to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines, with varied design standards, and working with others to ensure delivery. You will enjoy a challenge, be action focussed, display the ability to balance competing design time commitments.

Proven experience delivering energy related CAD designs across either (or all) primary, substation, secondary, protection or related projects.

Experienced in developing concept designs to meet industry standards from scratch with minimum supervision, ensuring innovation and safety is at the forefront of all early discussions.

Demonstrated experience in design drafting for High Voltage projects, ideally with 5+ years’ experience – working with Australian energy client (including Transgrid, Ausgrid, Powerlink and / or Energex) design standards is a significant advantage.

Highly proficient with one or more core CAD packages (AutoCAD and MicroStation) with an understanding of common data environments (Transgrid ProjectWise EDMS, Powerlink Autodesk Vault, or Energex Autodesk Vault).

Experience working collaboratively to build working relationships across multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating design inputs including with geographically and offshore based teams

Strong understanding of design standards, quality requirements and project delivery timeframes while maintaining verification, quality standards and design excellence.

Experience leading teams or team leadership skills for CAD teams is an advantage.

A high-quality focus, and an ability to instil a similar approach across teams.

Excellent collaboration, communication and time management skill set, working across competing project timeframes.
