The job
We are seeking an EL2 to lead a Regional Engagement Team delivering the IPA Program. Reporting to the Branch Head, you will work collaboratively with two other IPA EL2s. Regional Engagement Team This team builds strong, respectful relationships with IPA providers, ranger groups and key partners. It works closely with First Nations organisations to support community-led IPA projects on Country, providing practical guidance on planning, reporting, funding requirements and IPA plans of management. Travel to remote and regional areas may be required. You will administer the grant program, review program and budget reporting, monitor progress and help providers navigate operational, governance or workforce challenges. You will also provide advice on environmental matters and contribute to broader program and policy work. These roles suit people who enjoy working directly with groups, solving practical problems, and supporting on-Country delivery.
We are looking for an EL2 staff member to provide strong leadership and foster a high performing, supportive culture within a regional engagement context. Reporting to the Branch Head, the role leads a small team to deliver the IPA Program in partnership with Traditional Owners, proactively driving engagement to ensure IPA providers implement their plans of management and fulfil grant requirements.

Have exceptional written and verbal communication, engagement and negotiation skills. You can influence decision-making at senior levels, manage complex stakeholder dynamics, and lead culturally informed engagement with First Nations organisations

Have experience in working respectfully with First Nations people to achieve shared outcomes

Desirable qualifications
- Experience delivering Australian Government funded grant programs will be highly regarded.

Experience in environmental management, particularly with First Nations communities in the land and sea sector, will be highly regarded.
Eligibility and other requirements
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - this position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
