Are you ready to make a direct impact on national security and defence through the power of cloud technology?
The AWS Global Government Delivery Organisation (GGDO) is seeking a driven and experienced Programme Management Office (PMO) Leader to help lead mission-critical cloud programmes. This is your opportunity to work at the intersection of innovative technology and the nation's most important missions.
Based in Canberra, you will join a team of programme management and technical professionals delivering secure, scalable, and mission-driven cloud solutions for our customers. You'll partner directly with business leaders and government stakeholders to drive programme execution, align priorities, and deliver outcomes that matter.
As a Senior PMO Leader, you will be responsible for designing and owning the programme execution and delivery strategy, governance, and business operations rhythm to deliver at scale for customers across defence and national security. Overseeing a team of programme management professionals, you will lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, drive programme performance and reporting, and ensure the successful delivery of complex, multi-workstream initiatives.
This is a critical leadership role within a key Cloud Infrastructure Programme — an initiative delivering secure, scalable, and mission-driven cloud solutions for our national security customers. You will be responsible for overseeing programme execution, ensuring alignment with customer and stakeholder priorities, and managing technical, operational, and business outcomes.
The role requires subject matter expertise across programme management and business development, with the ability to incorporate technical requirements into commercial transactions and effectively structure, facilitate, and close engagements. You will also manage operational programme activities in accordance with existing contract performance criteria.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cloud computing, national security and defence mission requirements, and large-scale programme management — with the ability to translate complex technical and operational challenges into clear, actionable outcomes. You are equally comfortable collaborating with engineers as you are briefing senior government executives.
You will draw upon extensive information technology-centric programme management experience, critical thinking, and analytical problem-solving skills, coupled with business development and executive communication expertise within the Australian defence and national security community.
This role requires a proactive, mission-driven leader who can operate in a dynamic and highly sensitive environment whilst driving technical and operational excellence. If you thrive in fast-paced, high-impact roles and are passionate about national security, we encourage you to apply.
