Role summary
The Controller / Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for leading the organisation’s financial reporting, statutory compliance, month-end and year-end close processes, and internal control environment. The role typically reports to the CFO or Finance Director and partners closely with the broader finance leadership team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, including management accounts, statutory accounts, and board reporting.
- Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations, accruals, journals, and review of complex accounting entries.
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Prepare and coordinate statutory financial statements, audit deliverables, and external audit relationships.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, financial governance, and reporting frameworks.
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex transactions and accounting standards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial insights for decision-making.
- Lead, coach, and develop finance staff, including reporting analysts and accountants.
Required experience
- CA or CPA qualification with tertiary accounting education.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, statutory reporting, and month-end/year-end close.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS, and compliance obligations relevant to the organisation.
- Experience managing audits, reconciliations, general ledger controls, and financial governance.
- Leadership experience in a finance reporting or controller environment
Pay: $60.00 – $90.00 per hour
