Join one of Australia’s leading modern universities as a Management Cadet. UOW’s Management Cadetship is a four-year program designed for Year 12 school leavers to launch their career while completing a university degree.
This is a targeted position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). This is an affirmative action measure used to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed with the University.
About the Role
Cadets gain valuable, real-world experience by rotating through a range of areas across the University over the four-year program, including (but not limited to) People and Culture, Strategy, Student Services and Governance.
Alongside their work, cadets complete a relevant undergraduate degree in areas such as Business, Communication & Media Studies, Computer Science, Economics & Finance, International Studies, Information Technology or Mathematics. Other study areas may be considered where they align with the cadetship placements.
In the final 12 months, cadets undertake a specialised placement linked to their degree, supporting a smooth transition into a professional role in their chosen field. Responsibilities vary across placements, with clear expectations set at the start of each rotation to provide a structured and supportive learning experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to team projects and daily tasks across different University areas, helping deliver high-quality services to staff and students.
- Build strong communication and teamwork skills by working with a wide range of colleagues, including senior leaders.
- Adapt to different roles and environments, learning quickly and applying new skills across each rotation.
Balance work and study commitments while developing the knowledge and experience needed for a future career.

What You’ll Bring
- Completion of Year 12 (HSC) with a strong academic record and eligibility for enrolment at UOW.
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance work and study commitments.
Adaptability and willingness to learn, with the ability to adjust to different roles and environments.

- Level 1/2 | starting from $59,304 + 17% superannuation.
