Great opportunity for a Fund Accountant to develop their career as a part of our growing team based in Melbourne. As a valuable member of the team, you will undertake fund accounting responsibilities and work closely with our senior team.
The responsibilities of the position
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and semi-annual financial reporting for multiple investment funds, including Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, financial statements, trial balances, investment schedules and supporting reconciliations.
- Develop, maintain and review accounting working papers and reconciliations relating to accruals, prepayments, borrowing costs, capital transactions, investment activity, fund expenses and other accounting balances to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform fund accounting activities including calculation, reconciliation and monitoring of management fees, trustee fees and other fund-related transactions, while maintaining accurate financial and accounting records across relevant systems.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts, liquidity analyses and budget reporting to support financial planning, capital management and regulatory requirements.
- Record, process and reconcile capital calls, investor receivables, fund movements, unit issuances, redemptions and investment-related transactions to ensure accuracy of accounting records and investor balances.
- Maintain custody, pricing and investment records across accounting and registry systems to support accurate fund valuation, investor reporting and financial governance.
- Coordinate annual fund and corporate audit processes by preparing financial statements, reconciliations, accounting schedules, working papers and supporting documentation, and liaising with external auditors and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and utilise accounting and registry systems to support accurate financial reporting, accounting record keeping and effective financial administration.
- Prepare investor reporting documentation and financial communications, including holding statements, tax reporting and approved fund-related correspondence, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting or Finance is essential.
- Professional accounting qualification or progress toward CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants (CA ANZ) or equivalent professional accreditation will be highly regarded.
- Minimum 3 years' accounting experience within funds management, investment accounting, trustee services, or a related financial services environment.
- Experience working with private equity funds and private credit funds, including fund accounting, investment administration, capital calls, distributions, portfolio investment reporting, and trustee-related functions, is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in fund accounting, including financial reporting, investment reconciliations, NAV (Net Asset Value) calculations and preparation, and the preparation of accurate financial and investor reporting information.
- Experience supporting statutory and taxation reporting obligations, including BAS and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing accounting working papers, maintaining general ledger accuracy and supporting month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Experience supporting audit processes and liaising with external auditors.
- Experience in cash flow forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting.
- Experience using Xero, Salesforce, Registry Direct, and Automic Registry for fund accounting, investor registry administration, and financial record management is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret financial information and prepare clear, accurate financial reports and reconciliations.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with auditors, service providers and internal stakeholders.
