We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Nursing, Midwifery and paramedicine Simulation and Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support nursing, midwifery, and paramedicine education by managing and maintaining the simulation lab environment, preparing equipment, and assisting in the delivery of realistic clinical simulations to enhance student learning and competency.

About the Role:
The overall purpose of the Technical/Simulation Officer (Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine) is to be responsible for providing and applying specialised technical, procedural and experiential knowledge of health practices to a wide range of procedures and interrelated situations within the nursing, midwifery and paramedicine clinical laboratories and simulated learning environment. The position services both Higher Education and Victoria Polytechnic as required.
Position Key duties:
- Set up, operate, and maintain high-fidelity simulation mannequins, task trainers, and lab equipment used in nursing education.
- Assist faculty during simulation sessions, including troubleshooting equipment and providing technical support.
- Ensure all lab activities comply with safety and infection control standards.
Maintain at all times, the clinical and simulation learning laboratory equipment, associated technology, manikins and teaching models in operating order according to the manufacturers’ instructions to ensure equipment is available and in good working order at all times.

About You:
You will be working in the Technical Services department at Victoria University. The department is a shared service providing support to the University Colleges and Victoria University TAFE division. This role provides services into both sectors as required. Your experience and knowledge of the diverse areas within the nursing, midwifery, and paramedics industries, along with your commitment to providing a positive student experience will assist you in delivering on Victoria University’s vision to empower a diverse community of students, to grow their capabilities and transform their lives.
Please Note:
- The University is a Child Safe organisation. You will be required to hold a current Employee - Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
- It is preferred that applicants be registered as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse or be eligible to be registered as such or have experience in a simulated or clinical laboratory learning environment.
Applicant must have a proven ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate the operation of the clinical and technical requirements of simulated learning environments and skills practice sessions.
