We are seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organised Medical Administration Receptionist to join our gynaecology practice.
This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in the Australian healthcare system who is interested in developing or consolidating specialist administrative expertise within women's health and gynaecology.
About the Role
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in providing a welcoming and supportive experience while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting and assisting patients in person and over the phone
- Managing incoming calls and patient enquiries
- Booking, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments
- Chasing pathology, imaging, and other medical results as required
- Processing referrals and maintaining accurate patient records
- Booking surgical procedures and coordinating theatre requirements
- Liaising with anaesthetic groups, surgical assistants, hospitals, and other healthcare providers
- Managing specialist practice correspondence and documentation
- General medical administration and reception duties
- Supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks as required
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in medical administration or reception within the Australian healthcare system
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
- Professional and compassionate approach when dealing with patients
- Proficiency with medical software and standard office systems
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a specialist medical practice
- Interest in women's health and gynaecology
- Willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge in gynaecology administration
- Experience with Medicare billing, referrals, and specialist practice workflows
- General knowledge of Gentu practice management software
- Additional language skills, particularly Spanish and/or Portuguese
- Experience coordinating surgical bookings and specialist practice administration
