We are seeking an experienced, highly organised and service-minded House Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of a private household.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully presented home, notices what needs to be done without waiting to be asked, and is equally comfortable managing household tasks, assisting in the kitchen and providing polished hospitality-style service.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the general day-to-day presentation and organisation of the household
- Laundry management, including washing, drying, folding, ironing and wardrobe organisation
- General household cleaning and tidying to a consistently high standard
- Coordinating household supplies, groceries and other essential items
- Running errands, collecting orders and completing general ad hoc tasks
- Assisting with meal preparation and working as a kitchen hand when required
- Setting tables, serving food and drinks, clearing and assisting with entertaining
- Providing warm, discreet and professional hospitality-style service
- Preparing the household before the principals arrive and ensuring everything is maintained during their stay
- Packing, unpacking and assisting with travel preparation
- Travelling domestically or internationally with the household when required
- Liaising with tradespeople, service providers and other household staff as needed
- Maintaining privacy, confidentiality and discretion at all times
About the Schedule
This is a permanent, full-time position with a flexible working pattern.
The role will be busiest while the principals are in town, and flexibility around working hours will be required during these periods. This is balanced by extended periods of rostered time off when the principals are travelling.
There may also be opportunities to travel with the household. Where the schedule permits, the successful candidate will have personal time to explore the destination.
Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to adapt to changing household and travel schedules are essential.
About You
The ideal candidate will be:
- Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently
- Experienced in private household management, luxury hospitality, housekeeping, yacht or hotel service, or a similar position
- Confident with laundry care, ironing and caring for a variety of garments
- Comfortable assisting in the kitchen and providing polished food and beverage service
- Naturally attentive, with excellent attention to detail
- Calm, practical and able to respond professionally to changing priorities
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of personal boundaries
- Physically capable of completing hands-on household duties
- Comfortable travelling when required
- The holder of a current driver’s licence, with a safe driving record
- Able to provide strong professional references and complete relevant background checks
Employment Requirements
Applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or otherwise hold unrestricted and ongoing Australian working rights.
This position is not suitable for applicants on student visas, working holiday visas or other temporary visas with restricted hours or limited duration.
The successful candidate will receive a permanent full-time employment contract, including paid annual leave, personal/sick leave and other applicable employment entitlements.
