Oasis is Brisbane’s favourite floating entertainment venue, delivering high-energy events, private functions and regular weekend cruises on the Brisbane River.
With peak season approaching, we are looking for motivated, experienced and reliable Deckhands to join the Oasis crew. This is a hands-on maritime role suited to someone who enjoys working on the water, thrives in a busy entertainment environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, presentation and guest experience.
About the Role
As a Deckhand onboard Oasis, you will work alongside the Captain and wider crew to support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel during our peak trading period.
You will be responsible for assisting with deck operations, mooring and berthing, passenger movements, vessel presentation and general crew duties. As Oasis operates busy peak-season cruises and high-capacity events, this role requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively and work as part of a professional crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain and crew with mooring, docking, berthing and general vessel operations
- Support safe and efficient embarkation and disembarkation of passengers
- Maintain the cleanliness, presentation and general upkeep of all deck areas
- Assist with crowd and passenger movement during busy peak-season events
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to guests when required
- Monitor and maintain high standards of safety across the vessel
- Follow all vessel safety procedures, policies and operational requirements
- Participate in emergency procedures, drills and safety briefings
- Assist with pre- and post-cruise vessel preparation
- Work collaboratively with the onboard hospitality and operations teams
- Complete general deck and vessel duties as directed by the Captain
- Maintain a professional, reliable and safety-focused approach at all times
Requirements
- Valid GPH (General Purpose Hand) certification – essential
- Current First Aid & CPR certification – essential
- Previous maritime or deckhand experience
- Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Confident communication and strong teamwork skills
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational standards
- Availability to work peak-season weekends, evenings, public holidays and event days

Pay: $38.58 – $50.00 per hour
