Primary objective
The position provides high level administration and financial support to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning
Services (TLS) which includes preparation of reports for senior management and the Executive Director, support with
implementing and monitoring divisional services, projects and financial systems, and the preparation of documentation
to support continuous corporate and system improvement.
Context statement
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) provides evidence-based differentiated services and support to schools to maximise
outcomes for Territory children and young people. Our services encompass quality teaching and learning, national and
systemic assessment, transition to boarding school support and policy coordination. TLS also plays a strategic role in
implementing government priorities, offering expert advice to the Minister for Education and Training and the department’s
senior executives. We enhance our work by actively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure best outcomes
for all our clients.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide administrative support through preparation of documentation and general departmental correspondence.
2. Provide project support using effective research and evidence based approaches.
3. Liaise with staff at all levels within the division to support the Executive Director with a range of administrative processes
including procurement, financial management, scheduling and resource allocation, travel and management of equipment
and resources.
4. Carry out projects, research and reporting as required.
5. Provide staff training and mentorship in financial systems such as NTG Pay, GrantsNT, TRM, TRIPS, MYBIZ and GAS
Wizards or similar or ability to learn quickly.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge and experience in finance, grants management and procurement support and mentoring.
2. Experience in providing administration and support across the branch, in particular to ensure compliance and
understanding of financial administration, legislation, regulations and processes.
3. High level experience with computer software relevant to the administration role including advanced word processing,
databases and spreadsheets with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
4. Experience with booking, overseeing and coordinating travel.
5. Ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
6. Demonstrated ability to be flexible, innovative and undertake other duties in order to support team goals.
Desirable
1. Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent.
