The Material Handler Operator is responsible for safely handling, sorting, and moving scrap metal throughout the yard. This role involves operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, loaders, cranes, and magnets to load and unload trucks, process incoming materials, and stage metal for recycling or shipment. Responsibilities include the upright loading of containers to ensure proper weight distribution, stability, and safe transport. The operator inspects scrap for correct classification, contaminants, and safety hazards while maintaining efficient material flow. Additional duties include keeping the yard organized, performing basic equipment checks, and following all safety and environmental regulations. The position requires physical stamina, strong awareness, teamwork, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
