Role Description:
Reporting to the Algorithms Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for delivering of high quality technical input to the Autonomy Program projects as requested.
You will perform system engineering activities including requirements management, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests and acceptance tests.
Core Duties:
- Develop models and simulations of complex vehicles and systems
- Liaise with customer and supplier stakeholders in support of model development, verification and validation as required
- Support integration of developed models, algorithms and/or control systems into broader systems as required
- Perform assurance activities for the models and simulations to the required standard (internal process and certification bodies, as required)
- Perform configuration management and change management on developed work products
- Develop tools to support modelling and analysis
- Develop and document requirements and verification activities for both models and control systems
Essential Skills:
- Engineering degree qualified in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline (other fields such as applied Mathematics or Physics may also be suitable)
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, and experience in at least two major lifecycle phases (i.e. requirements analysis, architectural design, modelling, integration, acceptance testing), in an acquisition or sustainment context
- Applicant must have a demonstrated understanding of complex control systems (3 + years industry experience in a control-systems/GNC engineering role or PhD equivalent qualification)
- Relevant understanding and experience in the areas of flight or ground vehicle dynamics will be highly regarded
- Familiarity with below skillsets:
- Control systems engineering - development and analysis
- Flight dynamics
- Aerodynamics and air vehicle performance
- Matlab/Simulink based development
- Experience in peer, technical and design reviews, both informal and formal
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong ability in defect analysis and rectification
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment and independently
- Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary outcomes
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
