The Opportunity
The Human Development and Community Wellbeing (HDCW) team conducts research across the lifespan from conception, childhood, and youth to adulthood and the social determinants that impact and influence outcomes. The team’s focus is on the broader life course of individuals and communities within the family, school, and online environments, and includes economic evaluation of programs and outcomes.
We now have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to support the delivery of a health economics evaluation of the Early Moves Study, contributing to cost analysis, data preparation, and quantitative research activities.
This role will work closely with the Project Lead, Economist, and Program Manager to support Cost evaluation of general movement assessment (GMA) implementation, including development of costing frameworks, as well as quantitative analysis of cognitive outcomes and health service utilisation, including statistical modelling and interpretation.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews on health economics, early intervention, and developmental outcomes.
- Design and maintain cost data collection tools and documentation.
- Conduct economic analysis.
- Perform statistical analysis (e.g. causal analysis, regression modelling, descriptive analysis).
Prepare reports, publications, and presentations.

Based in our modern offices within Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this full-time position will be offered until 31 December 2027.
About You
The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Economics, Public Health, Health Sciences, Statistics, or a related field. You will also demonstrate:
- Experience with literature reviews and research support.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work with datasets and perform basic statistical analysis.
High-level written and verbal communication skills.
