ABSI Productions is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Casual Audio Visual Technician to assist with the delivery of live events across Perth.
This is a hands-on role involving the setup, operation and pack-down of professional audio, lighting, video and staging equipment. The position would suit someone with existing live-event experience or a developing technician who has a strong technical aptitude and is eager to learn.
Work will be offered on a casual, event-by-event basis. Hours will vary and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and occasional long shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with loading, unloading, setup and pack-down of AV equipment
- Install and operate audio, lighting, video, LED screen and staging systems
- Run and secure power, signal and network cabling safely and neatly
- Assist with soundchecks, system testing and troubleshooting
- Operate equipment during events where required
- Follow event plans, equipment lists and instructions from the production manager
- Maintain a professional and helpful manner when working with clients, venues and other contractors
- Handle equipment carefully and report any faults or damage
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
About You
The ideal applicant will:
- Be reliable, punctual and able to work well within a team
- Have an interest in live production and event technology
- Be comfortable with physical work, including lifting and moving production equipment
- Have good communication and problem-solving skills
- Be available for irregular event hours, including nights and weekends
- Be able to work calmly and professionally in fast-paced event environments
- Take pride in completing work safely and to a high standard
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
- Live audio systems and digital mixing consoles
- Wireless microphones and RF coordination
- Stage lighting, DMX and lighting consoles
- Video switching, projection and LED screens
- AV networking, Dante or NDI
- Staging, truss or event rigging
- Corporate events, concerts, churches or live productions
Applicants do not need experience in every area. Training and guidance can be provided to the right person who demonstrates reliability, initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
Requirements
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable transport to event locations and our warehouse or meeting points
- Australian working rights
- Ability to safely undertake the physical requirements of the position
An HR driver’s licence, Working at Heights certification, EWP ticket, White Card, rigging qualifications or test-and-tag competency would be advantageous but are not essential.
