As part of an exciting transformation across our Adelaide Ports operations, we’re creating new Terminal Operator roles and are looking for motivated, switched-on individuals to join the team.
About the Role
Following recent investments and strategic improvement in our Adelaide Ports operations, and as part of an award-winning team recently recognised globally for its proactive safety culture, we are excited to offer multiple new Terminal Operator opportunities at our Port Adelaide sites. This is a unique chance to join a growing, evolving team and play a key role in shaping the future of our operations.
We’re seeking multiple skilled and safety-conscious front end loader operators to join our team at Inner and Outer Harbour terminals. In this position, you’ll be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of front-end loaders and other equipment vital to our grain storage and logistics process.
This is more than a traditional operator role, you’ll be empowered to make on-the-spot decisions, solve problems, and actively contribute to improving how we work. You’ll collaborate closely with your team and build connections across the broader business, with opportunities to expand your skillset and, where required, support other sites during periods of operational need.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate plant and equipment to support grain receival, storage, and outturn operations.
- Monitor grain quality through sampling, classification, and quality control processes.
- Use real-time production and safety systems to coordinate activities, track performance, and maintain accurate records.
- Support control room operations, including responding to system alerts, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining workflow.
- Undertake Authorised Officer responsibilities (full training provided), ensuring compliance with quality, regulatory, and traceability requirements.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, rail, containers, and vessels in line with operational schedules.
- Make timely decisions to resolve issues, prioritise tasks, and maintain efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and environmental compliance.
- Collaborate across teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Experience operating mobile plant, machinery or working in a similar hands-on environment (tickets/licences highly desirable)
- Comfortable using computers and learning real-time systems to monitor and support operations.
- Strong attention to detail and an interest in quality, compliance, and process accuracy.
- Keen to develop technical skills in control room operations and Authorised Officer responsibilities.
- Able to think on your feet, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn across different areas of the site.
- Committed to working safely and following procedures.
- Familiarity with commodity classification is a bonus but not required.
- Current driver’s licence and availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
