The Brick Factory and Grape Bar located in the heart of Salamanca in Hobart is finely tuned modern bar and restaurant from the ground up, with every brick and layer of mortar meticulously placed by hand. Our menu is full of exceptional classic dishes, with a few unique creations thrown in to keep things interesting. Our bar has one of the best ranges of Tasmanian drinks in the state, and the whole place is brought to life with live music on site.
About the role:
We are seeking a talented and highly experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time role. As our Chef, you will play a key role in creating and executing our menu, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of quality and taste. You will work closely with our kitchen staff to maintain smooth and efficient operation, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes steak, pasta, pizzas, and pub food using local Tasmanian and Australian products.
- Develop and update menu offerings based on seasonal ingredients.
- Supervise kitchen staff, including training new employees, delegating tasks, and maintaining a productive work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storage areas.
- Collaborate with owners and managers on menu planning for weekly and seasonal specials.
- Uphold our commitment to delivering exceptional food quality and presentation to our customers.
About you:
- Culinary certification or relevant training from a recognized institution.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, flavour, profiles, and presentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious experiences

- 4 years of relevant work experience in a busy environment
- Full time working rights required for this role
- This is an immediate start position
