Principal Project Manager - Rail

We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager Rail to join our NSW Transport team and play a key role in leading the delivery of major rail infrastructure projects while helping to build the next generation of project management capability within our business.
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the successful delivery of medium to highly complex rail projects across New South Wales. You will provide strategic project leadership, maintain strong client relationships and ensure projects are delivered safely, commercially and in accordance with KBR's governance frameworks.
A significant aspect of this role is bringing practical experience from contractor-led environments, including Design & Construct (D&C), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and alliance delivery models. You will leverage this experience to strengthen KBR's delivery capability, mentor project teams and drive best-practice project outcomes.
What You'll Do
As Principal Project Manager Rail, you will:

Lead the delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects from initiation through to completion.

Take accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management and client satisfaction.

Provide leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.

Drive governance excellence through effective project controls, reporting and commercial management.

Act as a trusted advisor and strategic interface with clients, delivery partners and contractors.

Manage project delivery within contractor-led and D&C environments.

Mentor and support developing project managers and technical leaders.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management capability across the Rail and Transport business.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSSE requirements.
Who You Are
You are a proven project delivery leader who thrives in complex stakeholder environments and enjoys balancing technical, commercial and client priorities.
You will bring:

A degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience delivering rail infrastructure projects within consultancy, contractor or integrated delivery environments.

Proven experience managing medium to large-scale transport infrastructure projects.

Strong understanding of Design & Construct delivery models and contractor-led project environments.

Sound commercial acumen and experience managing project financial performance.

Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.

Experience mentoring project managers and developing project delivery capability.

Highly Regarded

Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.

Formal Project Management certification (PMP, AIPM or equivalent).

Experience working with Tier 1 contractors on major rail infrastructure projects.
