The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.

The Department of the House of Representatives provides services to support the efficient conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees, and provides a range of services and facilities for Members of Parliament in Parliament House. The department also promotes the work of the House in the community and supports the conduct of the Parliament’s international and regional relations.
About the role
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Content and Outreach, the Communications Manager is responsible for planning, creating and delivering high-quality communication products and campaigns that promote awareness and understanding of the work of the House of Representatives and the Australian Parliament.
The role manages the development and implementation of communication strategies, manages digital and social media content, evaluates communication activities, and provides professional communication advice and support to stakeholders. The Communications Manager works collaboratively across the department to deliver engaging, audience-focused content that supports departmental priorities and enhances public engagement.
Position Duties
- Develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies and activities that support departmental objectives and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage the department's social media channels, including content planning, channel optimisation and the development of high-quality, audience-focused content to enhance engagement.
- Develop and maintain high-quality communication products and resources, including content for Members of Parliament and other stakeholders, to support engagement with departmental activities and initiatives.
- Monitor, analyse and report on communication campaigns and initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness and reach.
- Contribute to the delivery of section priorities by supporting projects, collaborating across teams and undertaking other duties as required.
Position Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen;
- Undertake a National Police check;
- Obtain and maintain a security clearance at the baseline level.
