Franklin Equipment Group is a growing access equipment company specialising in the hire, servicing, repairs and major inspections of Elevating Work Platforms (EWPs). We are looking for an experienced On-Road Service Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced mechanic or service technician who enjoys working in the field, travelling to customer sites, diagnosing faults and keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.
The Role
As an On-Road Service Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing EWPs at customer sites throughout Melbourne and surrounding areas.
A key part of the role will be attending customer breakdowns and call-outs, diagnosing faults on site and getting equipment back up and running as efficiently as possible.
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out scheduled on-road servicing and preventative maintenance
- Attending breakdowns and service call-outs at customer sites
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Carrying out fault finding and troubleshooting on a range of EWPs
- Completing 90-day and annual inspections
- Inspecting equipment and identifying additional repairs or maintenance requirements
- Carrying out repairs on site where possible
- Returning equipment to the workshop when more extensive repairs are required
- Completing service sheets, inspection reports and maintenance records
- Liaising professionally with customers and site personnel
- Ordering and fitting replacement parts as required
- Maintaining a clean, organised and well-equipped service vehicle
- Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with safety requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a mechanic, mobile mechanic or service technician
- Has strong mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
- Has experience working with EWPs, plant, heavy equipment, machinery or similar
- Has a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Is confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs independently
- Is comfortable working at different customer sites and environments
- Can manage their own workload and respond to breakdowns efficiently
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their workmanship
- Has good communication and customer service skills
- Holds a current Australian driver's licence
- Is reliable, professional and safety focused
EWP / access equipment experience is highly regarded, but experienced mechanics from plant, heavy machinery, automotive, agricultural or similar industries are encouraged to apply.
