The Role
An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Mental Health - Melaleuca Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Utilise advanced level mental health nursing capability to coordinate and manage complex cases
Lead and coordinate clinical care in the work unit, performing the role of shift coordinator as required
Provide, maintain and role model advanced person-focused and evidence-based care
Foster effective relationships with consumers, families and carers
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
A graduate certificate or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
Permanent full time and permanent part time (several positions, hrs negotiable).
Base salary ranging from $113,979 - $122,048 annum or $57.48 - $61.55 per hour.
About Us
Melaleuca Acute Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit is located at Gold Coast University Hospital and is designed to provide for a safe and therapeutic environment in the provision of specialised acute inpatient service for consumers aged between 18-80 years. The unit is a 24-bed facility consisting of 18 Open Acute Care beds and 6 Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds. PICU beds in the unit are in a separate area within the unit with a higher level of nursing input to care for consumers in an acutely ill phase of a mental illness. Melaleuca Unit also services a Short Stay Pathway Program which can utilise up to 4 of the 18 Acute beds.
