You’ll join the Retail Banking Home Buying team , within the Customer, Digital and AI function, responsible for delivering world-class AI and data science capabilities that improve the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities.
This team plays a critical role in driving the performance of CommBank’s home lending portfolio—supporting everything from customer acquisition and credit decisioning to pricing, risk optimisation, and retention. Through advanced modelling and real-time insights, we help power smarter decisions across the entire home buying lifecycle.
As a Chapter Area Lead (Executive Manager), you’ll lead a high-performing community of data scientists and AI specialists, driving strategic AI initiatives and building scalable, production-grade solutions across Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Machine Learning.
Your impact
- Shape the future of Home Buying by designing and delivering GenAI and Agentic AI solutions that transform how customers discover, apply for, and manage their home loans
- Drive strategic AI capability across predictive modelling, personalisation, pricing, and portfolio optimisation
- Lead and grow a high-performing AI chapter, uplifting capabilities across deep learning, MLOps, and experimentation practices
- Embed AI into business decisioning, partnering with Product, Pricing, Risk (Line 1), and Finance to deliver measurable outcomes
- Champion innovation at scale, balancing cutting-edge AI with strong governance, risk management, and regulatory alignment
- Contribute hands-on to modelling and solution design where needed—setting the technical standard for excellence

Leadership & Vision
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary Data Science and AI teams in complex enterprise environments
- Strong track record driving adoption of GenAI, Agentic AI, and advanced ML at scale
- Ability to translate technical capability into clear business value and strategic direction
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with executive presence
Technical Excellence
- Deep expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and statistical modelling. (Preference for individuals from a statistical, mathematics or computer science background)
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI frameworks (e.g. RAG, prompt engineering, guardrails, LangChain, LangGraph)
- Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, SQL, and modern data science tooling
- Experience with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable ML deployment
- Solid understanding of data engineering (ETL) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
- Familiarity with platforms such as AWS SageMaker and Bedrock highly regarded

- Ability to operate across both strategic and hands-on delivery
