The purpose of the JMO Provisional Fellow role is to conduct initial assessment of infants and children, monitoring progress, ongoing management, and organising timely follow up at Nepean Hospital, NBMLHD. This role provides opportunity for General Paediatric Trainees with a strong interest to gain further training in Endocrinology.
All patients managed within the health service are managed under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding a patient's care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care. Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the JMO Provisional Fellow's skills, knowledge and experience under the guidance and discretion of the appropriate specialist medical practitioner.
The JMO Provisional Fellow is responsible for working closely with members of a multi-disciplinary team and dealing with matters urgent or sensitive nature, exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
The JMO Provisional Fellow will aim to build on the clinical knowledge and skilled gained during training and undertake research projects, protocol development and provide supervision and teaching to JMOs and medical students.
RACP OTP top up training and peer review for General Paediatrics and psychosocial/community paediatrics is possible. RACP research project support is available.
Where you'll be working
- Provisional Fellows will generally work Monday-Friday 0800-1630 and on calls including weekends. Nepean Hospital has a 24 bed Paediatric Ward, a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Nursery and a 24 bed Post Natal Ward.
- The Department is staffed by 11 Paediatricians including 5 VMO s, 3 Clinical Academics and 6 Staff Specialists (General Paediatric, Endocrine and Developmental Medicine), 2 General Paediatric Clinical Fellows, 10 Paediatric Trainees and 6 Residents.
- The Department of Paediatrics is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and has previously been host to the RACP Fellowship clinical examinations.
- The department runs annual mock RACP clinical exams.
