Based in coastal Central Queensland, we are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our Gladstone Lab team on a 12-month contract. Play a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance through accurate testing, analysis, and laboratory operations.
Your Opportunity
In this role you will:
- Sample, prepare and analyse a range of materials, ensuring that all analysis results are reported or dealt with in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure the Gladstone laboratory maintains NATA 17025 and ISO 9001:2000 compliance.
- Record and verify all test results and readings on the appropriate report sheets or logs and to enter the required data into the Laboratory computer as designated in the Laboratory Manual and relevant Work Instructions.
- Seek other ways to reduce laboratory operating costs and avoid waste.
- Assist in monitoring and calibration of critical instrumentation e.g. XRF & Lab equipment.
- Raise maintenance notifications and purchasing of equipment/consumables for effective operation of the Lab.
- Provide technical support and training to Laboratory staff, Process testers and mine personnel.
- Maintain workplace in a tidy and safe condition and to follow rigidly, the Laboratory Safety Guidelines as outlined in the Laboratory Manual as well as any safety instructions or policies which may be introduced from time to time, ensuring efficient/safe operation of the Laboratory at all items.
- Perform internal management and technical quality audits.
- Contribute to the continuance of cement production by providing out of hours assistance by ensuring you are on call for Gladstone Laboratory and East End mine.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary Qualification in Chemistry (or equivalent) or Diploma of Laboratory Technology preferred
- 2-3 Years' experience as a Laboratory Technician, previous in the manufacturing industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO9000 and ISO/IEC/17025), and NATA rules and regulations
- Knowledge/Understanding of Lab Instrumentation
- Sound communication skills
- Good computer and Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Manual Driver's Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- XRF’s Spectrometry experience highly regarded.
