Introduction:
At Strata Community Insurance, our ambition is to be the Insurance Partner of Choice for the strata community and that depends on technology our teams and customers can trust. We're looking for a Building Consultant to join our Building and Assessment Services (BAS) team.
Reporting to the National Manager, Claims Partnerships and Building Services, you'll validate repair scopes, methodologies, and costs to make sure each claim is tied to causation, priced fairly for its location, and delivered to a consistent standard. Your work will support faster resolution, protect sustainable portfolios, and strengthen the quality and accountability of our building partners.
Location options - Sydney or Brisbane
What you'll do
Conduct Fair & Reasonable and Quote & Scope validations across strata residential and commercial claims, aligning scope and methodology to our Product Disclosure Statement.
Confirm scope ties to the cause of damage, check labour and materials separation, and validate fair-market pricing across metro, regional, and remote markets.
Identify and constructively resolve leakage, over-scoping, and pricing inconsistencies.
Verify trade certificates, licences, insurances, and safety prequalification (such as ISO 45001 or CM3), and check completed works against building-code, quality, and Work Health and Safety requirements.
Support supplier onboarding, offboarding, and performance management, including builder evaluations, structured feedback, and dispute resolution.
Work across Wilbur and other claims platforms, capturing structured data and helping improve our validation methods, templates, and technical standards.
What you'll bring
Experience in insurance-led building assessing, restoration, or repairs across residential, strata, and commercial property.
A background in field or desktop assessing, estimating, or repair project management.
Hands-on experience with builder estimating platforms and insurer or vendor portals (for example Prime Ecosystems, enData, or Crunchwork).
Sound knowledge of construction pricing and rates across the major state markets, plus the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards, and Work Health and Safety requirements.
Exceptional stakeholder management, with the ability to align builders, adjusters, and internal teams and resolve disputes through reason and governance.
A relevant building and construction qualification - a trade certificate, Certificate IV, Diploma, or a builder or supervisor licence or equivalent demonstrable experience.
