We are seeking a passionate Childcare Centre Cook to work between the hours of 9.30 - 2.30 5 days a week to join our team and provide nutritious, high-quality meals for young children in our care.
About the Role
This is a hands-on cooking role responsible for preparing and delivering morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for up to 100 children per day. You will prepare meals from scratch on some days and work with pre-supplied foods on others. Each day you will ensure all dietary requirements are safely and accurately met.
You will play an important role in supporting children’s health and wellbeing by providing fresh, balanced, and age-appropriate meals in a safe and clean kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks from fresh ingredients
- Prepare and serve pre-supplied or pre-prepared foods as required
- Cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including allergies and intolerances
- Prepare individual meals for children with specific dietary needs
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times
- Manage kitchen cleanliness, stock rotation, and food storage & ordering
- Work efficiently to meet meal service times for up to 100 children daily
- Follow approved menus and early childhood nutrition guidelines
About You
- Confident preparing meals for large groups
- Strong understanding of food safety and allergen management
- Able to work independently and manage time effectively
- Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Genuine interest in children’s nutrition and wellbeing
Requirements
- Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Working With Children Check (or or willingness to obtain)
