The Opportunity:
Our national Tax team are growing, with a dedicated focus on expanding our Indirect Tax capability. We have an opportunity available for a Lawyer/Senior Associate to join our Indirect Tax team in Sydney. Each day will be different and cover a variety of industries, transactions and client bases.
Ashurst Perkins Coie's Tax team is one of the most respected in the market, covering the full range of direct and indirect tax and tax controversy. Our broad experience means we are able to assist clients with market leading tax advice as well as day-to-day client service. In doing so, we aim to provide clients with strategic insights into dealing with tax risk and governance frameworks and developing effective solutions to tax issues.

We are interested in hearing from people who have:
- 4+ years' indirect tax experience gained within a top-tier law firm, Big 4 professional services firm or in-house specialist indirect tax team. Candidates with more experience are also welcome to apply.
- We require candidates who have a law degree and who have completed the College of Law or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving ability.
- Solid understanding of the stamp duty and land tax regimes (including surcharge duty and surcharge land tax) across Australia and / or GST legislation and associated jurisprudence and the ability to inquire and analyse deeply into particular tax provisions.
- Good delegation skills and the ability to efficiently manage multiple matters at any one time.
- An appetite to develop expertise in new and emerging areas of tax law.
