Most people think running a swim school is all about teaching.
And while teaching is at the heart of what we do, creating an exceptional experience for children, families and our Crew takes so much more.
It takes someone who can step into the water and help a nervous swimmer feel brave.
Then step onto pool deck and support a team member through a busy lesson block.
Someone who loves teaching, enjoys helping others grow, and brings calm, positive energy to a fast-moving swim school environment.
That's where this role comes in.
Fish N Flips Upper Kedron is looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to join our leadership team.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll spend approximately 20-25 hours each week teaching in the water, using that time to model great lessons, connect with families and set the standard for our Flips Crew.
Outside of the water, you'll support the leadership team across pool deck coaching, customer experience and day-to-day venue operations.
You may already have experience leading a team in aquatics. Or you may be an experienced swim teacher ready to take your next step.
Either way, we're looking for someone who sees leadership as something you do with your team, not from a distance.
In this role, you'll help keep the Flips magic flowing across the venue.
Your week may include:
-
Teaching swimming lessons across a range of levels, from babies through to stroke development.
-
Helping Little Fish feel safe, confident and celebrated in the water.
-
Supporting lesson quality on pool deck.
-
Coaching, encouraging and mentoring Flips Crew.
-
Assisting families with enquiries, questions and lesson support.
-
Supporting smooth daily venue operations.
-
Helping manage the flow of lessons during rostered shifts.
-
Acting as a senior support person for Crew and families.
-
Contributing to a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued and empowered.
-
Have previous swim teaching experience.
-
Love working with children and families.
-
Enjoy supporting, coaching and encouraging others.
-
Communicate clearly and confidently.
-
Stay calm and organised in a busy environment.
-
Are proactive, practical and solutions-focused.
-
Bring positive energy to your team.
-
Are open to learning new ways of teaching and leading.
-
Want a long-term role with room to grow.
Leadership experience is valued, but not essential. If you're an experienced swim teacher who is ready to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
-
A current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
-
Current CPR.
-
A current Blue Card, or willingness to obtain one.
-
Previous swim teaching experience.
-
Pool Lifeguard Qual or willingness to obtain
-
Availability to work full-time across a swim school roster.
-
Full-time stability with a starting salary from $70,000 + super.
-
A role that blends teaching, leadership and customer experience.
-
Rostered time to support the team and venue operations.
-
Ongoing training, mentoring and development.
-
The opportunity to grow your career in aquatics leadership.
-
A supportive leadership team that values initiative and fresh ideas.
-
A playful, child-focused workplace where no two days feel the same.
