What You'll Be Doing
As
Sous Chef, you'll play a key leadership role within the kitchen, working alongside the Head Chef to deliver exceptional food, develop your team and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen. You'll lead by example during service and help drive a culture of excellence, consistency and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef in the daily management of a busy premium kitchen.
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing team of chefs and apprentices.
- Delivering consistently exceptional food quality, presentation and execution.
- Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Assisting with ordering, stock control, inventory management and minimising waste.
- Managing labour efficiently while maintaining service excellence.
- Contributing to menu development, seasonal offerings and continuous culinary innovation.
- Ensuring recipes, portion control and kitchen standards are consistently followed.
- Leading kitchen operations and service in the Head Chef's absence.
- Fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performance kitchen culture.
About You
We're looking for an experienced culinary leader who thrives in premium dining environments.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step within a premium restaurant.
- A background in award-winning restaurants, hatted venues or Michelin-star (or equivalent) dining environments.
- A genuine passion for exceptional food, quality ingredients and outstanding execution.
- You're a genuinely hands-on leader who leads from the pass and works alongside the team every service. You thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and lead through action, coaching and example.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to perform under pressure during high-volume service.
- Experience managing food costs, stock control and labour efficiency.
- A commitment to developing and mentoring the next generation of chefs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and venue leadership.
