MBZ Developments Pty Ltd is a residential building company based in Victoria. The business is involved in residential construction projects, including new builds, renovations, extensions and related carpentry works. Due to ongoing project demand, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Carpenter who can work across residential building sites and carry out high-quality carpentry work in accordance with building plans, specifications, safety requirements and project timelines.
The successful applicant will be involved in the construction, installation, renovation and repair of timber and related building structures and fixtures.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Read and interpret building plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine materials, dimensions and installation requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and install timber, plywood, wallboard and other construction materials.
- Construct, erect, install, renovate and repair structures and fixtures used in residential construction.
- Install wall frames, roof framing, floor structures, doors, windows, skirting, architraves, cabinetry, fixtures and other timber components.
- Carry out formwork, framing, fit-out and finishing carpentry works as required.
- Select and prepare materials, check measurements and ensure work is completed accurately and to specification.
- Use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment and carpentry machinery safely and effectively.
- Repair and replace damaged or defective timber structures, fittings and fixtures.
- Work with site supervisors, builders, subcontractors and other trades to complete projects on time.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe worksite.
- Ensure all carpentry work meets quality standards, building requirements and client expectations.
Skills and experience required
- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant carpentry experience, preferably in residential construction.
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
- Experience in framing, fit-out, fixing, renovation and general residential carpentry.
- Good knowledge of timber materials, construction methods and safe tool operation.
- Ability to measure accurately and complete work with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a reliable work attitude.
- Ability to manage time, follow instructions and meet project deadlines.
Licences and other requirements
- Construction White Card.
- Valid driver licence.
- Reliable transport to attend residential building sites across Victoria.
- Own basic carpentry tools preferred.
- Willingness to travel between project sites when required.
- Ability to work full-time hours and reasonable overtime when required.
