The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Aboriginal Recruitment and Engagement Partner within the Recruitment Services team.

About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services which focus on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
DJCS oversees functions including Aboriginal Justice, Victim Support, Justice Services, Family Violence, Justice Operations, Regional Services Network, Corrections, Youth Justice, Emergency Management, Police and Crime Prevention, Regulation, Corporate Services, Justice Coordination, and Workplace Safety Policy.
The People, Safety and Culture (PSC) group supports the department in workplace culture and people matters, including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; safety and wellbeing; workplace relations; and employee conduct. PSC promotes a culture to engage and develop the workforce, providing every person with the opportunity to unlock and achieve their potential.
The Recruitment Services and Talent Programs team provides expert advice and support to the department on all recruitment related matters, including attraction, selection, redeployment and other recruitment and retention practices. About the role:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, within the Aboriginal Recruitment Team (ART) the Aboriginal Recruitment and Engagement Partner is a strong advocate for working at DJCS and will be responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process across Aboriginal prioritised and designated positions for the Youth Justice and Talent Delivery portfolios. In addition, the role works closely with the Aboriginal Workforce Unit contributing to specialist advice to stakeholders at all levels on Aboriginal cultural issues, employment related policies and legislation that impact on the Victorian Aboriginal community.
A key focus of this role will be delivering and contributing to the Youth Justice Wirkara Kulpa Strategy 2022- 2032.
This role is based in the Melbourne CBD head office and will require regular travel across regional Victoria to build partnerships in workplaces and with Aboriginal Community organisations.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake the full recruitment lifecycle including job briefing, advertising, sourcing, shortlisting, interviewing, background checking and offer management.
- Manage recruitment processes in consideration of the Aboriginal Recruitment Policy promoting culturally safe engagement principles.
- Continuously build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including relevant regional Aboriginal community organisations.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will hav e:
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
- Experience in recruitment business partnering to meet operational demand and deliver consistent and quality recruitment services in an Aboriginal employment context.
- Knowledge of the departments Youth Justice Wirkara Kulpa Strategy 2022- 2032 would be well regarded.
