Position Summary
Westside Meat Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Purchasing Officer to coordinate the procurement of materials, supplies and services required for its meat-processing operations. The successful applicant will prepare purchase orders, obtain supplier quotations, monitor deliveries and ensure that essential production, packaging, cleaning, safety and maintenance supplies are available when required.
Key Duties
· Receive and review approved purchasing requisitions.
· Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers.
· Prepare, issue and maintain purchase orders.
· Purchase packaging materials, cartons, labels, processing consumables and operational supplies.
· Coordinate the procurement of cleaning products, personal protective equipment, uniforms and safety supplies.
· Assist with urgent purchases of machinery parts and maintenance materials.
· Monitor order confirmations, supply lead times and delivery dates.
· Follow up late, incomplete, damaged or incorrect deliveries.
· Maintain approved supplier, product and purchasing records.
· Liaise with production, warehouse, stock-control, maintenance and accounts personnel.
· Monitor supply requirements against inventory levels and production schedules.
· Assist with supplier performance reviews and pricing comparisons.
· Reconcile purchase orders against delivery documentation and supplier invoices.
· Identify potential supply shortages and recommend alternative arrangements.
· Comply with company purchasing authorities, recordkeeping procedures and workplace policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
· A relevant AQF Certificate II or III, or an equivalent qualification; or at least one year of relevant purchasing, procurement or supply experience.
· Experience preparing purchase orders and dealing with suppliers.
· Sound commercial, numerical and negotiation skills.
· Experience using purchasing, accounting or inventory systems.
· Strong organisational and recordkeeping abilities.
· The ability to manage competing priorities and urgent supply requirements.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience purchasing for meat processing, food manufacturing, industrial production or another regulated operating environment is desirable.

Pay: $79,423.00 – $90,000.00 per year
