About the role
- Deliver high level Occupational therapy clinical services and leadership as a member of the multidisciplinary team to service users of the Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, as well as their families/carers, and other relevant stakeholders in accordance with organisational goals. The focus is on providing long term rehabilitation in a secure environment, facilitating discharge and promoting recovery.
- To provide recovery-oriented services, which involve supporting service users to develop a sense of hope, self-awareness, connectedness with their community and personal responsibility. Service users are supported to identify what is helpful and meaningful to them through a therapeutic partnership of equality and respect.
- Provide clinical practice and professional supervision to less experienced Occupational Therapists and contribute to service improvement, to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards within the service.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- As a member of the multidisciplinary team, deliver contemporary, evidence informed high level Occupational Therapy services, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, and performed with a high degree of independence. This includes the:
- Provision of high-level assessment, treatment, risk management, and discharge facilitation to a varied and complex caseload across the continuum of care within a specialised secure mental health rehabilitation unit.
- Provision of high-level Occupational Therapy screening and assessment to assist with diagnosis, formulation and treatment. This may include assessment of functional cognition and independent living skills.
- Deliver evidence based occupational focussed interventions for consumers and their families, including the development and provision of individual and group based therapeutic programs (for example utilising frameworks related to sensory modulation and functional cognition).
- Actively contribute to case reviews and provide discipline specific advice to the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide high level Occupational Therapy advice and education to the multidisciplinary team, operational supervisors, and key stakeholders regarding professional standards and clinical service development to facilitate optimal consumer care and outcomes.
