Introduction:
At Strata Community Insurance, our ambition is to be the Insurance Partner of Choice for the strata community and that depends on technology our teams and customers can trust. We're looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to build that trust from the ground up.
This is a rare opportunity to own and shape a testing capability end to end, rather than inherit someone else's. You'll establish the frameworks, environments, and standards that ensure every change is properly validated before it reaches production and you'll do it across a modern platform stack and six product teams who are counting on you.
What you'll do
You'll be the person who stands up SCI's dedicated UAT environment and owns it ongoing keeping it aligned to production, managing data refresh cycles, and coordinating access and test windows across teams. From there, you'll define the test framework everyone works to: the standards, templates, and processes for test planning, execution, and defect management.
Day to day, you'll partner with Business and Support Analysts, Delivery Leads, and Product Managers to plan and run testing for each release. You'll lead integration and regression testing across our core platforms Entsia, Wilbur, associated applications, and the Databricks intelligence layer making sure end-to-end flows are validated together, not just in isolation. You'll own the defect management process from logging through triage to resolution, and you'll serve as the quality gate that signs off (or escalates) before anything goes live.
Just as importantly, you'll lift the whole team's capability coaching Analysts in test planning and acceptance criteria so quality becomes a shared discipline, not a bottleneck in a single role.
What you'll bring
Demonstrated experience in a senior testing role, with a track record of building or significantly improving testing capability in a technology delivery environment
Experience establishing or owning a UAT environment, including configuration, data management, and access governance
Strong grounding in test frameworks, test planning, and defect management
Experience with integration testing across multi-platform environments, and the ability to design end-to-end scenarios that span system boundaries
Exposure to test automation frameworks and tools
Familiarity with agile delivery and comfort working across multiple product teams at once
Experience with Jira or an equivalent defect and backlog management tool
Nice to have
ISTQB Foundation or an equivalent testing qualification
Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry
Experience in leveraging AI tools to improve quality and effectiveness of work
Why this role
You won't be slotting into an existing function you'll be defining it. Your work will show up in measurable ways: fewer production defects, fewer emergency hotfixes, stronger release confidence, and a team that tests better because of how you've coached them. If you want genuine ownership and visible impact, this is it.
