Do you love animals and enjoy working in a hands-on, rewarding environment? Bathurst Boarding Kennels and Cattery is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and caring Kennel Hand to join our team.
This position is available on either a casual basis or as a permanent part-time role of up to 16 hours per week. Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and busy boarding periods is highly desirable.
About the Role
As a Kennel Hand, you will play an important role in ensuring our canine and feline guests receive exceptional care during their stay. This position combines animal care, customer service and general facility maintenance, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in providing outstanding care to both animals and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming and assisting clients in a professional and friendly manner
- Caring for and handling our animal guests safely and confidently
- Monitoring and reporting animal health, well-being and behaviour
- Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment throughout the facility
- Assisting with reception duties and administrative tasks
- Supporting team members to ensure the smooth operation of the kennels and cattery
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in kennels, veterinary clinics, animal shelters or pet care service demonstrating your ability in animal handling and animal care experience- Certification or currently training will be highly regarded
- Confidence handling dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments
- A strong understanding of dog behaviour and body language
- The ability to identify, monitor and report health and well-being concerns
- Knowledge of cat and dog breeds (advantageous but not essential)
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
- A current NSW Driver's Licence and reliable transport
Job Type and Category
Casual Animal Attendant Position – Average of 12 hours per week (with extra holiday shifts)
The position will be paid in accordance with the relevant industry award.
