Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our growing fleet of commercial vehicles, including vans, trucks, and refrigerated units.
This role is critical to keeping our vehicles operational, reducing downtime, and ensuring safety and compliance across the fleet.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance on diesel vehicles
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Maintain refrigerated truck systems (preferred but not essential)
- Conduct engine, brake, suspension, and transmission repairs
Diagnostics & Breakdown Support
- Identify faults using diagnostic tools
- Attend urgent breakdowns (on-site or roadside if required)
- Minimise vehicle downtime with quick and effective repairs
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthy and safety standards
- Maintain service records and maintenance logs
- Assist in preparing vehicles for inspections and audits
Workshop & Operations Support
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop
- Coordinate with operations team on vehicle availability
- Provide recommendations on repairs vs replacements
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic (3+ years preferred)
- Experience with commercial fleets (vans/trucks)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Valid driver’s licence (HR preferred but not mandatory)
- Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanics)
Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)
- Experience with refrigerated vehicles (0–4°C systems)
- Mobile mechanic experience
- Welding or fabrication skills
- HR Drivers License
