Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking a passionate and proactive Destination Engagement Partner to strengthen industry relationships, support tourism operators, and help grow the visitor economy across our thriving region.
About the Role
The Destination Experience Partner is a strategic role responsible for leading the delivery of the Destination Experience Strategy. This role plays a key part in strengthening and future-proofing the Mudgee Region visitor economy by driving industry investment, engagement and experience improvement.
This position provides leadership and expert delivery across strategic planning, industry engagement, capability development, visitor services, and tourism performance. The role ensures local tourism businesses are informed, connected, and equipped to deliver high-quality experiences that attract visitors and engage locals, while supporting the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of the region’s tourism industry.

About You
You are a relationship-focused professional with a passion for tourism, stakeholder engagement and regional development.
You will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in business, tourism, marketing or a related field.
Experience working in or with local/state government, specifically with local or regional tourism organisations or destination marketing organisations (minimum 5 years).
Experience building and maintaining trusted relationships with local tourism operators to encourage industry investment and cooperative marketing revenue
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and leading strategic initiatives in tourism
Experience in designing and delivering industry capability programs
Demonstrated experience leading and managing visitor servicing operations
Experience in developing or supporting successful grant or award submissions
Current Class C driver’s licence and the ability to travel within and outside the region.

This role requires a satisfactory National Police History Criminal Check prior to commencing.
Working Arrangements
This position works standard business hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional work outside normal business hours will be required, including early mornings, evenings and nights to support industry events, stakeholder engagement activities and Council initiatives.
On rare occasions, weekend work and travel may be required within the region and to key visitor markets including Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast, as well as interstate travel for industry conferences, learning and development opportunities, and tourism summits.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3,561.40 - $4,008.40 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $92,596.40 - $104,218.40 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
