The Royal Hospital for Women is a major tertiary public teaching hospital, servicing the eastern suburbs of Sydney and is a referral centre for obstetric, gynaecological and gynae-oncological services.
The provisional fellow will work as a Senior member of the JMO team, based in the anaesthesia department at the RHW. The purpose of the position is as follows:
- To consolidate and develop specialist skills, knowledge and attributes consistent with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Roles in Practice (CanMEDS Framework) to allow progression to independent consultant level practice as a specialist anaesthetist and fellow of ANZCA.
- To provide clinical anaesthesia services at the RHW inclusive of high risk and routine obstetric anaesthesia services, elective and emergency surgical services (obstetrics, gynaecology, gynae-oncology, breast surgery) and perioperative medicine (outpatients clinics, pain management and high acuity care).
- To lead the trainee staff, assisting with the education, supervision and welfare support of trainees in training and the administration of trainees' affairs including rosters and leave arrangements.
- To contribute to the development of quality assurance and safe practices, including oversight of departmental morbidity and mortality meetings, audit and clinical guideline development as outlined in the ANZCA policy document TE9: Guidelines on Quality Assurance.
- To be involved in patient education and the education of non medical health care professionals.
- To participate in departm ental research activities.
