About the Role:
At Curtin University, we’re committed to delivering exceptional student experiences supported by accurate, compliant and high-quality data practices. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our Student Fee and Statutory Reporting team as a Data Compliance Officer.
You will play a key role in ensuring data is accurately maintained, interpreted and reported, while providing expert guidance and support to teams across Student Services that create, manage and process reportable student data. This role also contributes to student fee compliance through the configuration and maintenance of fee structures within University systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity and compliance of student records in accordance with higher education legislation, government reporting requirements and University policies.
- Support statutory reporting activities by ensuring the quality, accuracy and completeness of reportable student data.
- Configure and maintain student fee structures and related compliance settings within the Student Management System.
- Investigate and resolve complex data quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to Student Services and other stakeholders on student data, compliance requirements and best practice processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance data quality, compliance outcomes and operational efficiency.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience working with complex data, compliance, reporting or administrative processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate data issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, legislative requirements or regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and advice to a range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Strong numerical, systems and data management skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while building effective relationships across a broad stakeholder group.
Desirable
- Experience working within a university or higher education environment.
- Knowledge of higher education legislation, student administration, student fee compliance and/or statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience using StudentOne or other student management systems.
- Experience working with reportable student data and government reporting processes.
Role Requirements
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
