About the Opportunity
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor is responsible for the provision of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) advice and support to organisational Leaders and employees. The role adds value by building the knowledge, skills and capability in occupational health and safety matters, resulting in achieving the Library's HSW objectives and targets.
Reporting to the Manager HSW, the Advisor role supports the implementation, and review of the HSW Management System and undertakes programs of work in consultation with the Manager HSW, team colleagues and various consultative forums. The HSW Advisor responds to operational needs while fostering a culture where people feel safe and supported.
About You
We value your HSW background and your practical application of Victorian Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Your ability to address short-term and urgent matters while progressing longer term HSW priorities speaks of your organisational capacity and planning capability. Having already proven adept at using Microsoft Office applications to organise your thoroughly-documented reports and investigations, you are ready to become known as the point-of-contact for all things HSW.
Your ability to write concise accurate reports, analysing data so that key stakeholders can make informed decisions, will prove beneficial in the role. You will enjoy the stakeholder engagement aspects of the role, including delivery of safety training.
In addition, you will come to us with:

Occupational Health and Safety qualification (Certificate IV level or higher) coupled with relevant experience in a similar health and safety role

Qualifications or formal training in ISO45001OHS Management Lead Auditing

Proven ability supporting the development, coordination and implementation of HSW frameworks by maintaining and improving procedures, systems and processes, resulting in stronger alignment with organisational HSW strategies/plans

Demonstrated experience delivering timely, practical HSW advice that enables stakeholders to make informed decisions, leading to improved safety behaviours, reduced incidents, and enhanced organisational compliance

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships that improve cross‑team coordination, and strengthen safety culture
-
Proven ability to work collaboratively with operational teams to identify, review and track hazards and incidents, ensuring investigations and corrective actions are completed and verified to improve HSW operational performance

Experience managing and maintaining HSW and contractor management systems; generating and analysing HSW data to produce high‑quality reports and dashboards that support evidence‑based decision‑making

Demonstrated high‑level administration capability that ensures accurate maintenance and retention of HSW records, HSW systems and timely coordination of safety programs
