The Shoe Group (TSG) is looking for an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team at our Support Office in Gillman.
Reporting to the Payroll & Compliance Manager, you will support the accurate and timely processing and administration of payroll across our business while providing a high level of service to our team members and managers.

What you'll be doing
As our Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for a range of day-to-day payroll activities, including:

Supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across TSG

Reviewing and validating time and attendance information

Maintaining employee payroll records, including new starters and employment changes

Processing approved allowances, deductions and payroll adjustments

Investigating payroll discrepancies and assisting with pay-related enquiries

Supporting managers with timesheet and time and attendance issues

Maintaining accurate payroll documentation and employee records
-
Applying relevant Awards and payroll requirements

Responding to payroll enquiries from team members and managers

Maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information

Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and administration

Working closely with People & Culture, Retail, our Distribution Centre and other Support Office teams
These responsibilities reflect the existing role's focus on payroll files, time and attendance, employee records, allowances and deductions, pay adjustments and accurate and timely employee payments.
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring:

Previous experience in payroll administration and payroll processing

Experience using payroll and time and attendance systems

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills

Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organisation and time-management skills

A strong customer service mindset

Confidence communicating with team members and managers at all levels

The ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical payroll deadline

A high level of discretion when handling confidential employee information

A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach
Experience using Dayforce would be highly regarded, as would previous experience working with payroll in a multi-site, roster-based or retail environment. Dayforce is also specifically identified as preferable in the existing Payroll Officer requirements.
