About the role
The Ranger position will work within the East Port Phillip team in the delivery of day-to-day port, visitor and environmental services under the supervision of the Ranger Team Leader.
The care and maintenance of parklands as well as Aids-to-Navigation, public piers and safe boating are included within East Port Phillip's main functions.
The ranger position with play a key role in helping to maintain assets, environmental features, supervise maintenance contracts and contractors as well as undertake projects and programs that support the port and parkland areas.
About the Team
The East Port Phillip team's area of responsibility cover the eastern section of Port Phillip between Mentone and Portsea as well as the Patterson River parklands and National Water Sports Centre.
We're looking for someone with:
- Coxswains Certificate of Competency or demonstrated progress towards, with a sound working knowledge in the operation of vessels is highly desirable.
- Degree, Certificate or Diploma in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent trade-based qualification or work-related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in visitor-focussed customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contemporary computer software applications.
