About the Opportunity
Join NT PHN in a senior business performance and improvement leadership role responsible for the delivery of strengthened organisational performance visibility, improving reporting quality and consistency, and enabling informed decision-making through the provision of meaningful performance insights and organisational intelligence.
The Business Performance and Improvement Manager will provide enterprise-wide leadership and coordination of portfolio management, business improvement and operational maturity initiatives, supporting effective planning, prioritisation, delivery and organisational accountability.
About You
You are an experienced business and performance leader with a strong background in leading business performance, reporting, improvement, coordination or similar enterprise functions in a complex organisation. You bring practical operational leadership, sound judgement and the ability to work closely with leaders across the organisation to identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen processes and systems, and translate assurance, audit and governance requirements into practical actions and sustainable business improvements.
- Knowledge or training equivalent to a relevant postgraduate degree and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education / training.
- Demonstrated experience leading business performance, reporting, improvement, coordination or similar enterprise functions in a complex organisation.
- Knowledge of the PHN environment and/or similar health or government settings, with an understanding of how these organisations operate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff, including supervision, coaching and capability uplift.
- Demonstrated ability to use reporting, analysis and performance information to support executive oversight and decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience leading business improvement and quality initiatives, including change, process improvement, audit follow-up, QMS or ISO 9001 environments.
- Good understanding of risk, assurance and governance concepts, including the ability to interpret audit findings and recommendations and translate them into practical actions and operational improvements.
- Ability to influence, engage and build buy-in across teams and stakeholders, including senior leaders and executives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, briefings and presentations for a range of audiences.
- Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement practical systems and processes.
About the Role
Key priorities include:
- Lead the Business Performance & Improvement function to strengthen organisational performance visibility, delivery coordination, business improvement and operational maturity across NT PHN through strong onsite engagement with teams.
- Provide day-to-day onsite leadership, supervision, mentoring and workload coordination for three direct reports, supporting a high-performing, collaborative and improvement-focused team culture.
- Provide leadership and oversight for organisational performance and reporting, including review, analysis and continuous improvement to support executive visibility of performance, priorities, risks, progress and emerging issues.
- Oversee organisational reporting frameworks, cycles, standards, templates and quality assurance processes, including compliance reporting to the funding body, to improve consistency, accuracy, timeliness and fit-for-purpose reporting.
- Provide enterprise-wide coordination and oversight of portfolio, project and initiative visibility, including progress tracking, prioritisation support, risks, dependencies and escalation pathways.
- Provide oversight, support and coordination for business improvement activities across the organisation, including process improvement, operational uplift, coordination of change activity and embedding of continuous improvement practices.
- Oversee QMS, audit and improvement action visibility across the organisation, and support clearer scope, requirements, responsibilities, implementation considerations and operational impacts for key initiatives.
- Work closely with managers, executives and staff through regular in-person engagement to strengthen reporting discipline, accountability and quality of organisational insights.
- Review and analyse reports, dashboards, briefings, and compliance outputs to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timely escalation of key issues.
- Work with the business to understand requirements and identify gaps, duplication, bottlenecks and process weaknesses, while providing leadership and oversight to the team in translating these into practical solutions and improvement actions.
- Promote fit-for-purpose frameworks, systems and ways of working, and build organisational capability through advice, coaching and guidance.
- Maintain a responsive and adaptive approach to changing organisational priorities while ensuring team outputs remain aligned to strategic and operational needs.
