Cardoso Metal Solutions Pty, based in Marrickville, Sydney, is recruiting an experienced Mechanical / General Fitter with the ability to lead the design and fabrication of steel components for construction and general industrial-grade metal work.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Studying Solid Works / Fusion – 3D- 2D / Auto CAD drawings and specifications to determine suitable materials, methods, operations and machine settings for fabrication of general components
- Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce Beams, Posts, Hooks, frames gates & General
- Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments, both for in-house parts and preparing quality inspection reports on parts acquired from third party suppliers
- Setting controls on machining tools, appropriate for the various materials being processed and components being fabricated.
- Creating new mechanical prototypes in metals such as: stainless steel, brass, aluminium and carbon steel. Performing TIG Welding , MIG Welding, Brazing Weld, Stick Weld and other similar techniques.
- Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of Mechatronic components, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts.
Occasional travel to customer sites to install or maintain steel assemblies.
Requirements:
- Qualified Mechanical/General Fitter or equivalent.
- Knowledge with 2D and 3D CAD, including reading manufacturing/assembly drawings
- Qualifications and experience as a TIG Welder, including experience in stainless steel.
- Ability to manage and repair mechanical components and electronic modules.
- Previous experience working in a stainless-steel clean environment.
- Knowledge of quality control and preventive maintenance.
- Experience and familiarity with pressure/vacuum sealing and testing.
- Knowledge of automation and electrical components will be an advantage.
- Forklift certification or willingness to undertake training to obtain certification.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a workshop environment.
- A respectful person towards staff members and customers.
- A strong work ethic and pride in workmanship.
This is a full-time position totalling 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Remuneration is in the range of $75,000 to $85,000 (plus super) depending on your skills and experience.
