4 Seasons Industries is looking for a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineer / Fitter & Turner/ Manufacturing Operations Lead to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our manufacturing facility.
This is not a desk-based engineering role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the factory floor, working directly with industrial machinery, solving problems and keeping production moving.
Our manufacturing equipment includes industrial shredders, hammer mills, material handling systems, dust extraction and automated/semi-automated bagging equipment.
You will be responsible for ensuring production targets and customer orders are met, while keeping a close eye on machinery performance, preventative maintenance, reliability and opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day manufacturing operation and production schedule.
- Operate, monitor and troubleshoot industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Ensure customer orders are manufactured and completed on time.
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and minor mechanical repairs.
- Identify machinery issues before they result in unnecessary downtime.
- Troubleshoot production and mechanical problems and develop practical solutions.
- Assist with machinery modifications, upgrades and installation of new equipment.
- Continually look for ways to improve production efficiency, reliability and output.
- Work closely with our external mechanical and electrical engineers and contractors.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient manufacturing environment.
- Ensure WHS procedures, safe operating procedures and equipment requirements are followed.
- As production expands to two shifts, assist with the leadership and management of the manufacturing team.
About You
We are looking for someone who is mechanically minded, practical and comfortable taking responsibility.
Ideally, you will have:
- Mechanical engineering qualifications, mechanical trade qualifications, or substantial hands-on industrial manufacturing experience.
- Experience working with industrial machinery such as shredders, hammer mills, conveyors, bagging equipment or similar processing machinery.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with preventative maintenance and machinery improvements.
- A practical, hands-on approach – you are prepared to operate equipment and get involved when something needs fixing.
- Good organisational skills and an understanding of production planning.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and good housekeeping.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of manufacturing operations.
- Leadership or supervisory experience would be highly regarded.
